Effect of Acyl Chain Length on Hydrophobized Cashew Gum Self-Assembling Nanoparticles: Colloidal Properties and Amphotericin B Delivery

Given its many potential applications, cashew gum hydrophobic derivatives have gained increasing attraction in recent years. We report here the effect of acyl chain length on hydrophobized derivatives, using acetic, propionic, and butyric anhydrides self-assembly nanoparticle properties amphotericin B delivery. Nanoparticles with unimodal particle size distribution, highly negative zeta potential, low PDI were produced. Butyrate nanoparticles presented smaller (<~100 nm) than acetylated propionate no cytotoxicity murine fibroblast cells was observed up to 100 µg/mL for loaded unloaded nanoparticles. As a proof concept use developed as drug carrier formulation, (AmB) encapsulated fully characterized their physicochemical, AmB association release, stability, biological aspects. They exhibited average hydrodynamic diameter lower ~200 nm, high efficiency encapsulations (up 94.9%), controlled release. A decrease release anhydride observed, which explains differences antifungal activity against Candida albicans strains. An excellent storage colloidal stability without surfactant. Considering delivery, derivative is shown be best one, it has loading well minimum inhibitory concentration
